John Miller specializes in preparing and prosecuting patent applications for inventions relating to highly technical subject matters, including electrical, semiconductor and solid state devices, electro-optics and optics, printed antennas and antenna systems, satellite systems, vehicle stability control and handling systems, fuel cell systems, computer algorithms and software, and spine surgery devices and instrumentation.

His practice also includes client counseling, drafting various intellectual property opinions, including patentability opinions, validity opinions and non-infringement opinions, freedom to practice opinions, preparing and negotiating licensing agreements, and various aspects of trademark and copyright matters.

Before becoming an attorney, John was a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. John examined hundreds of patent applications for inventions relating to mass spectrometers, electron microscopes, ion implantation devices and many other technologies in the radiant energy classification.

John is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Courts of the State of Michigan. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Patent Law Association.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) from Eastern Michigan University in 1984, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1986, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University in 1992.
